Thanks in advance!

I have volunteered twice at WTH so far, and I have been moved during each experience. During my first visit, I helped unload two full Uhaul trucks of large item donations. They were grateful for the large items like couches, mattresses, and dressers; however, they were quickly running out of small items like mugs, flatware, and kitchen goods. This inspired me to bring the items that I was originally going to donate to Goodwill to them. The next time I went to WTH, I brought a grocery bag full of kitchen goods like a paper towel holder, muffin tin, and silverware. Upon arrival, I was informed that a client would be showing up soon and she needed all the items that I had brought. When the client arrived, I was able to watch her excitedly pick up and load the items that I had brought. It provided an interesting perspective on donating and watching someone benefit from the items I had brought. This experience added a more personal touch that I wouldn’t have experienced if I had taken them to a bigger chain thrift store.

Volunteering at WTH is unlike any volunteering I have done in the past. Being able to interact directly with those benefiting from WTH services brings a personal touch to the experience that makes you feel that you are truly making a difference in the community.
